2.9 Spell check: for the names of districts/ blocks/tehsils re-check the spellings on the official website of that district. Similarly, check the spellings of the names of all castes/communities on the website of the Ministry of Tribal Welfare or the relevant state government/ National Commission for SC/ST website. For example, ‘Santhal’ is a commonly-used spelling, but on the Ministry of Tribal Welfare’s website it is spelt ‘Santal’ – so we changed it accordingly in one article.

Ensure also that every time the name is mentioned in an article, the spelling is consistent – in one story, for example, the spelling varied between Anantpur and Anantapur. In some places this can be a somewhat difficult-to-spot discrepancy – as, for example, in Sarungbam Khomei and Sarungban Khomei. So check and re-check.
